Welcome
to Chileno Valley Ranch - The home of Natural Beef,
Organic Apples and Plein Air Art
Wokshops
Please
note that we no longer run a Bed and
Breakfast
hileno
Valley Ranch, the home of Mike and Sally Gale, is
primarily a grass-fed
beef ranch. About
600 acres of beautiful hilly coastal
Marin grassland supports a herd of 100
Angus cows/calf pairs. Beef is sold directly to
families, with no middleman. The animals are
humanely raised and spend their whole lives on the
Ranch. Additionally, great care is taken to protect
and preserve the creeks, fish, birds, and
native plants and animals on the Ranch.
Mike and
Sally also have an organic
apples orchard,
with varieties such as Orin, Pinova, Molly's
Delicious and Jonathan's Pride. All the apples
varieties are blind taste test winners, and can be
purchased from the ranch or from local markets,
such as Toby's Feed Barn in Point Reyes
Station, the Organic Farmstand at
Marin Art and Garden, or the La
Franchi Farmstand in Nicasio.
During
the Summer and Fall, Plein
Air Painting Workshops
are given at the Ranch. The instructors are
well- regarded painters from the Western United
States. Some of the painters who have given
workshops at the Ranch are Marcia Burtt, Glenna
Hartmann, Randy Sexton and Clarks
Mitchell.
As
Chileno Valley and the Ranch are known for their
spectacular vistas and charm, a limited
number of Weddings
are held at the Ranch during the Summer months.
Mike and Sally consider each wedding to be a
unique event, and encourage couples to create their
own setting and program.
Sally
Gale is also a plein
air painter.
Her work can be purchased directly from the
Ranch, and through yearly Shows. Known for Ranch
Scenes, Sally will honor Commission
Requests.
Our
visitors seem to enjoy the fact that this was once
a grand place that was neglected over a long period
of time, but has now been brought back to life
in every aspect, that is, the house is once again a
grand house full of fine furniture; the fences,
barns and livestock are improving all the time; and
the creek, once denuded of vegetation, now teems
with birds and soon will be the spawning ground it
once was for both steelhead and salmon.
